Returns In-store & Online
Policy
Wrong size? Not quite what you wanted? No worries. You can return your garment(s) up to 30 days from the date you receive your order. We provide free returns and exchanges to New Zealand.
To return your product, email your request to shop@rembrandt.co.nz
We highly recommend using the provided postage tracking on your returned parcel as we cannot refund or exchange items that go missing in the post.
Return Eligibility
Our policy lasts 30 days. If 30 days have gone by since you have received your order, unfortunately, we can’t offer you a refund or exchange.
To be eligible for a return:
- Item(s) need to be returned within 30 days of received order
- Items must be unworn and unused with the original tags still attached.
- Excludes items that have been altered as they are no longer in its original condition.
- Excludes items that have been ordered specially from an external supplier.
- Include proof of purchase with your return.
- Gift cards are exempt from being returned or refunded.
- Underwear and face masks are exempt from being returned or refunded due to hygiene reasons.
- Fragrances are exempt from being returned or refunded.
If you would like a return or arrange an exchange, please email shop@rembrandt.co.nz to request your return form and courier label.

Student Discount
10% off full price, 20% off school ball hire
- Get 10% off full-price items in-store only with a valid student ID.
- 20% off the normal hire price to students hiring for their school ball.
- Offer valid in-store only at New Zealand Rembrandt locations.
- Student ID must be current and clearly show your name and institution.
- Discount applies to full-price items, hire and made to measure only and can’t be used with other offers or promotions.
- Not valid on gift cards, online purchases, or sale items.
- Rembrandt reserves the right to modify or cancel this offer at any time.
Hire Terms
Payment
Payment is required in full at the time the hire booking is made.
Next Day Pickups
Next day pickups of hires will incur a $35 charge.
Next day hires must be booked before 12noon and will not be available for pickup until 3pm the next day.
Next day pickups are not possible from Dunedin, Invercargill and Queenstown. A 2-day pickup from these locations can be achieved however the $35 charge still applies as does the 12noon booking deadline and the 3pm pickup time.
Next day means next weekday ie Monday to Friday. Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays are not next day pickup days as courier companies do not deliver on those days.
Standard Pickup Days
Standard pickups are 3 days after the booking is made and there is no additional freight charge.
Standard pickups for Dunedin, Invercargill and Queenstown is 4 days after the booking is made and there is no additional freight charge.
Changes to Hire Order
Changes to hire orders is usually possible subject to garment availability and the garment not having been shipped from the warehouse to the pickup store.
Alterations
Alterations to leg length or sleeve length based on measurements received will be completed prior to hire pick up.
There are no additional charges for alterations.
Garments are not to be altered by the hirer.
Cancellations
You can cancel your hire booking and receive a full refund up to 7 days before the pickup date. Cancellations less than 7 days from pickup date incur a 50% fee.
Returns
Return the suit by 1pm to one of our nationwide Rembrandt stores (or partner stores) within 2 working days of your event.
Late Return Fees
Late returns (ie 3 working days or more after the event) will incur a $40 a day fee.
Drycleaning
Rembrandt will take care of the drycleaning on return of your hire.
Student Discount
We offer 20% off the normal hire price to students hiring for their school ball.
Damaged or lost garments
Garments lost, or damage beyond normal wear and tear will be charged to the hirer.
These charges are:
- Suit jacket $300 NZD
- Suit Trouser $150 NZD
- Waistcoat $150 NZD
- Shirt $100 NZD
- Tie $50 NZD
Personal Items
Rembrandt is not responsible or liable for any personal items returned with the hire garments. If you believe you have accidentally included personal items when returning the hire garments, please contact us with the relevant details. If we locate your personal items, we will return them to the store where you originally placed the hire order for collection.
Rent to Keep
It is not possible to buy a hire suit as it has been committed to the next person who hired that style/size.
Liability
Rembrandt is not liable if we fail to make the hire outfit available if it is because of an event beyond our control or something which is your fault.
Acceptance of Hire Terms and Conditions
Hirers will be asked to read and sign acceptance of our Hire Terms and Conditions when a hire order is placed.
