where we stand

We are committed to doing business in a sustainable and responsible way.

our planet

We care about our planet. That’s why we are always working to reduce our impact by making environmentally friendly, sustainable choices.

sustainable packaging

The journey towards sustainability is made up of many small decisions. That's why we have replaced all retail packaging with recyclable alternatives throughout New Zealand.

Shirts are notorious for having too much packaging, so we’ve moved to unbleached card and done away with as much plastic as possible. This change means 60,000 fewer pieces of plastic every year.

coat hangers

Three years ago we partnered with Mainetti, the world leader in coat hangers. The hangers they manufacture for us are made with a minimum of 90% recycled plastic. By choosing hangers made from at least 90% recycled plastic, we help keep oil in the ground and plastic out of landfills.

our people

clothing factory people

We value the people who work for Rembrandt. That's why we make sure that our suppliers and partners provide fair and safe environments for their employees.

Our suppliers must agree to the Rembrandt supplier code of compliance. This code is based on the Ethical Trading Initiative and we review it annually for improvements. We also frequently visit our suppliers and they engage independent, specialist assessment organisations to conduct factory audits.

our product

We focus on well-made tailoring that is designed to last. That’s why we reject the wasteful approach of fast fashion.

raw material

We prefer high-quality fabrics produced from natural fibres. Wool makes up 45% of fibre used in our fabrics, while cotton and other natural fibres such as linen, cashmere and silk makes up 47%.

Our largest supplier of fabric is the Italian weaving mill Reda. Reda are world leaders in animal welfare, environmental and ethical standards best illustrated by their European Eco-Management Audit Scheme certification which no other weaving mill has obtained. Our Aspiring collection is exclusively produced from 100% New Zealand, ZQ certified sustainable merino.

*The fibre content refers to outer fabrics (not linings and pocketing).

wear and re-wear

By design, our tailored garments have a large seam allowance, allowing you to resize your garment throughout its life. Many Rembrandt suits can be purchased with an extra pair of trousers, lengthening the life of your suit.

reuse and reduce

Our hire range makes it simple to borrow for special events such as weddings and black-tie events, reducing the number of garments you need to buy for occasional wear.
